A built-in floater inside cartridges can control an extremely slightly amount of inks

A high level of inks provide high pressure and a low ink level reduce pressures to a printhead

A locker valve allows you to shut off the inks if you need to remove the cartridge. Vertical means that ink is flowing to the cartridge, Horizontal means that ink is not flowing to the cartridge.
